Sock Bubbles and Failed Water Marbling

PINTEREST..what an addictive site, right? I get on there all the time to pin a million things because it is basically a way for me to electronically hoard amazing ideas and images. It also plays into my OCD of categorization.

Anywho...I digress. I got on there back in July to show my younger cousin my boards and we came across SOCK BUBBLES! It was an idea that I had never thought of and the results are pretty interesting.

How it works:
1) You cut the bottom of a plastic bottle off.
2) Pull a sock up over the plastic bottle.
3) Tape the sock at the top to make sure it stays on the bottle.
4) We found a difference between pulling a sock up on the bottle tight or leaving it a little pulled out at the end like mine above. When you pull it tight, it tends to make more bubbles than when it's saggy.
This is my cousin dripping food coloring into our water/ dish washing liquid mix. After you are done with all of this then you take the fun outside which we did!
We had a lot of fun and it was a good bonding experience for us! Little ones would just love this!

Afterwards, we went into the house to try out water marbling. Water marbling is a nail polish technique that we found on Pinterest and thought would look so neat! This is what it is supposed to look like:
We tried for over an hour to figure out how to do the polish in the water by watching videos over and over and over again and wasting bottles of nail polish. This is what the water marbling concoction should look like once you've poured in nail polish and cut through it with a toothpick making a design of some sort:
Um, yeah...our bowl did NOT look like this! We found out that it depends on the water and the kind of nail polish you have. We were so frustrated but Julianne was determined to do it so this is how it all turned out for her.

Party foul! We were so sad but it was a fun night trying out fun stuff on Pinterest LoL. Glad I got to have fun with one of my FAVORITE cousins :).
